Tech Help

FAQs
  • Q: How do I find the current prices or fees for broken chromebooks?

  • Q: What do I do if my child’s device is broken?
    • A: The student needs to notify the teacher of the breakage. The librarian will submit a work order to Technology.
The computer technician will either fix the device on the campus, or deliver it to the chromebook repair shop. Once the device is back, the librarian or teacher will give it back to the student. This process takes an average of 3 to 5 business days depending on demand.
The parent will be notified of any charges. The parent will either give the money to someone in the front office or pay online at https://midlandisd.revtrak.net
In the meantime, the campus may give the student a loaner device to use while the original device is being repaired.
  • Q: Will my child be required to take the STAAR test using a school device?

    • A: House Bill 3261 requires state assessments to be administered online by the 2022-2023 school year. This transition will require nearly all students to be assessed online, with the exceptions of students taking the STAAR Alternate 2 assessment and students who require accommodations that cannot be provided online. More information can be found at the following link.

  • Q:What if I do not have internet access at my home?

    • A: Parents are able to apply for the Affordable Connectivity Program to receive a discount of up to $30 per month for internet service for eligible households. Information can be found at the following link.

  • Q: Would 1882 schools be included in sending devices home?

    • A: All 1882 schools would NOT be required to participate. It will be at the discretion of the campus admin.

Wifi Information

Student Wifi

The SSID (WiFi name) your students will connect to is called MISD Devices.  All district-provided Chromebooks and iPads will connect automatically at campuses  and on buses (NEW) and there is no login required.  The district is providing 1:1 student devices to be checked out this year, so there will be no ability for a student to connect a personally-owned device to the network.

Staff Wifi

The SSID (WiFi name) you will connect to is called MISD.  As in previous years, you are able to log in using your usual computer login username and password.

Visitor Wifi

New for 2023-24 will be the SSID called MISD VISITOR.  The purpose is to allow temporary (1 day access) with the permission of a staff member. Those attempting to connect will be prompted to request access and need to enter the e-mail address of a staff member who will grant access.
